This book was not as good as it could have been. The storyline has promise but, it needs some more work. I really loved Shawn & Riana's chemistry. I enjoyed the development of the secondary characters and how she touches on their individual issues in this story. I am looking forward to their stories. I also liked how Ms Binkley kept me in suspense as to who Elis really was ( although I knew) and his explanation for all the subterfuge. Unfortunately, some parts of the story just weren't congruent or didn't line up, for me. Also, I want the author to choose between writing this series in first person-past tense (recommended) or first person-present tense. Present tense is expected in the dialogue but a lot of the narration shifts constantly between these two tenses (in the same sentence) making it a hassle to read.HOWEVER, I don't want to give up on this author!! I believe she has talent and am willing to invest in it to see where this series takes me.

An interesting series
I enjoyed this story. Riana is learning that true love isn't a smooth road, and Shawn learns that, sometimes, even the best of intentions can mean the world of hurt for others. My main problem was the editing and grammatical mistakes in this book. If these were fixed, it's a book I would wholeheartedly recommend.
Riana and Shawn's story was sweet! I loved how Shawn was patient with Riana and how he was her protector. I hated the fact that Riana was humiliated in high school and was bullied but I'm so glad she was able to put the past in the past and leave it there.
This book is based off the love of Riana and Shawn. They met in college, intro to journalism to be exact. They didn't plan their love. They didn't even like each other in the being. Plus they both had a lot of issues in the love department. But an unexpected incident occurred causing them to open there eyes. They go through a couple of trails but in the end love really did conquer all.
This story immediately pulled me in, describing Riana's horrible high school experience due to issues with her jerk of an ex, Nathan. The characters were relatable, especially the situations described in the book. I was pleased with the end and that Riana decided to take Shawn back because he was a good guy despite the mistakes he made. I recommend this novel to other book lovers w/o hesitation.
The story line was interesting since I enjoy reading New Adult stories and the setting was in Houston. However, I found the sex parts a little too explicit. I could only make it half way through the book. I think there should be some kind of disclaimer.I was expecting to read a love story and found that there was more sex than emotional love between the lead characters, in my opinion.
I must admit I think this book is not badly written and it didn't have much errors but I wasn't completely woo by it. It had its moments but something was missing. I kinda get where the author was going with the story two broken people finding each other thru heartbreak it got boring thou. I was like get with already. I didn't feel the chemistry that much with these two it was there but like I said something was lacking. I will recommend to those who,like stress free romance or a cute love story!
